Local Attractions
Walking and Climbing - The area has many superb walks, both from the farm itself and very close by. The Manifold Valley and Dovedale are both just 10 mins down the hill, whilst 3 mins the other way, The Roaches with its rugged gritstone peaks is a mecca for climbers and also a spectacular walk with views as far as Snowdonia on a clear day.
Stately Homes -
Chatsworth House and Park - One of the Britains finest stately homes is within 20min drive, as well as the house itself there is the farmyard and play area which is a childs paradise. The park is a great place to walk or ride and also the site for the Chatsworth International Horse Trials in mid May. It was also the setting for the recent film "The Duchess".
Haddon Hall - Also within 15mls, Haddon is a beautiful medieval manor house, open from April to October, the setting for many films and period dramas, the latest being "Pride and Prejudice".
Theme parks -
Alton Towers - 25 minutes away to the south west is one of the biggest and best theme parks in the country, we also have special 50% discount tickets available for 2009 season.
Gullivers Kingdom - Ideal for smaller children, this is at Matlock Bath, 30 minutes away.
Steam Train Rides – The Churnet Valley Railway starts at the Victorian station at Cheddleton just south of Leek, it runs all year round with Santa specials at Christmas. Slightly further away there is Peak Rail at Matlock.
Swimming – There are public pools at Buxton, Leek, Ashbourne, Matlock and Bakewell.
Sailing and Canoeing – Carsington Water is half an hour away. At the visitors centre you can hire sailing dingys, canoes as well as bikes to do the circuit round the reservoir.
